Pitt is known for its ferocious defensive line play, and that’s evidenced by James Morrow knowing all about the Panthers.

Morrow — a 6-foot-4, 230-pound four-star defensive end from Buford High in Georgia — picked up an offer from Pitt on Tuesday, and it stood out because of the recent success.

“A Pitt offer means a lot because in my eyes, the best D-lineman to ever play the sport of football came out of Pitt in Aaron Donald,” Morrow told Pittsburgh Sports Now.

Pitt joined an extensive list of schools to offer Morrow, including Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M, UAB, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

It’s still a fairly new relationship between Morrow and the Pitt coaching staff, but there’s a solid foundation in place already. Despite an offer from offensive line coach Jeremy Darveau, Morrow is destined for the defensive line.

Morrow is a long, athletic defensive end with the power to overwhelm opposing offensive linemen at the point of attack and the speed to blow by them on the outside.

Morrow recorded 48 tackles (20 solo), two tackles for loss, two sacks and a pass breakup as a junior.

Rivals rates Morrow as the 233rd-ranked recruit in the class (10th-ranked strongside defensive end and 35th-ranked recruit from Georgia). 247Sports hasn’t ranked him yet. That will change soon.

Morrow is being chased by nearly every major program in the country, and while the Panthers may have an uphill battle ahead, he said there’s a plan in place to make it up to Pittsburgh. It will be important to get him on campus as often as possible over the next year.

“My impression on the Pitt program is a growing program that is going to be a contender for next year,” Morrow said.

Pitt kicked off its class of 2026 with a commitment from three-star quarterback Angelo Renda (Southlake, Tx.), which was an excellent start, but there’s still a long way to go. Morrow would be an elite addition.
