On Monday night at 7 p.m., Pitt will take on Virginia at Petersen Events Center, looking to improve to 6-5 in the ACC.

PITT’S OUTLOOK

Pitt sits at 14-7 overall and 5-5 in ACC play after falling to Wake Forest on the road over the weekend.

The Panthers have lost five of their last seven games dating back to the Jan. 7 game at Duke. Pitt is looking to snap the streak with a win over Virginia, who is not the same Virginia that we’re used to seeing come into Pittsburgh. After longtime head coach Tony Bennett retired just before the season, interim HC Ron Sanchez took over. The Cavaliers have struggled this year, and are currently 10-12 overall and 3-8 in ACC play.

VIRGINIA CAVALIERS (10-12, 3-8 ACC)

Head Coach: Ron Sanchez (1st Season as Interim HC)

CAVALIERS REPORT

Virginia is coming off a loss to Virginia Tech, and is now ranked at No. 134 in the NCAA NET rankings. The Cavaliers have dropped ACC games to Louisville twice, Cal, Stanford, SMU, Notre Dame, and the Hokies since the new year.

Virginia ranks highly as a team in the following categories: Assist/turnover ratio (3rd in ACC), scoring defense (2nd in ACC), three-point percentage (fourth in ACC), turnovers per game (fifth in ACC).

Isaac McKneely is the leading scorer at 13.3 points per game, and he’s a sharpshooter (42% from three). 6-foot-8 forward Elijah Saunders scored 11+ points per game, and grabs 5.5 rebounds per contest. Andrew Rohde, Jacob Cofie, Dai Dai Ames, and Blake Buchanan make up the majority of the Cavaliers’ rotation.
