The Colonials led the Titans by the score of 53-50 with 8:43 left in the game but used an 18-3 run over the remainder of the game to pull away and secure the double-digit win. The Colonials left with the short-handed win due to three key separators.

RMU is now 16-8 on the season and has a 2-0 record against Quad 2 opponents. Andy Toole’s team is 9-5 in Horizon League play, and has won seven of its last eight games, with the only loss coming to Wright State by two points. RMU will now take on Northern Kentucky on Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. on the road. The Colonials own a 5-6 record this year when playing at an away arena.

Duquesne lost its fifth game in a row on Wednesday, falling to Richmond. The Dukes are now 9-14 overall and 4-6 in A10 play.

“I didn’t think anything was short of effort or energy, I did think we were a little bit shellshocked in the beginning, just didn’t have the right mindset,” Duquesne head coach Dru Joyce III said after the game. “We got down early and things weren’t going our way, and we had to snap back, because that’s the game of basketball. We had to push through that, I thought we closed the first half pretty well. In general, we forced turnovers, so we got some stops, but I don’t think they missed much of anything. A couple of prayers went up in the air and I’m sure they’re feeling probably so. You’ve got to regroup and move on.”
