Future 2026 Pitt Quarterback Locks in Official Visit

Class of 2026 Pitt commit Angelo Renda schedules his official visit for June 5-7.

In order to land a commitment from Southlake Carroll quarterback Angelo Renda, Pitt went to him.

The Panthers extended an offer in early January and while visiting the state of Texas, tight ends coach Jacob Bronowski and offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kade Bell visited Renda. Not long after, Renda cemented himself as the first commit for Pitt in the Class of 2026.

Although he is familiar with the City of Pittsburgh, Renda has never stepped foot on Pitt’s campus for a visit, but that will change in a few months. Renda has locked in an official visit to Pitt on June 5-7.

Even though Renda made a quick decision to join the Panthers, he still has a lot to learn about the Pitt program and will do so when he arrives in June.

“I am looking forward to seeing the culture of Pitt football and excited to continue to build relationships with the coaches,” Renda told Pittsburgh Sports Now.

The relationships Renda previously built with the Pitt coaching staff was a key factor into the signal caller making the swift decision to commit.

“I love the coaches. I love the atmosphere. I’ve been to Pittsburgh a bunch in my life; I really love it,” Renda said in January. “I love the coaches, coach Bell and coach Bronowski came to my house a couple of days ago, and I just wanted to lock it in. They’re some good dudes, good coaches, and obviously coach Narduzzi has been there a long time. Won a lot of football games. I want to win a championship, and this is the greatest team to do that with.”

Renda, who stands at 6-foot, 180 pounds, is a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports. He is also rated as the 75th-best quarterback in the cycle. He selected the Panthers over other offers from SMU, UTSA and Jacksonville State.

As a junior at Southlake Carroll, Renda put up some lofty numbers, including 3,901 passing yards and 40 passing touchdowns, along with 667 rushing yards and 14 scores on the ground. Renda and his Dragons team finished 15-1 and undefeated in section play before appearing in the Texas 6A Division 2 State Championship.

As a foundational piece, Renda will turn his attention towards building the class around him and some of that recruiting will take place on his official visit. As of now, four other prospects will be on campus during Renda’s visit.

Three-star linebacker Markel Dabney, four-star athlete Damon Ferguson and three-star wide receiver Demetrice McCray will visit Pitt from June 5-7. Three-star running back Christian Lawrence will be on campus from June 6-8.

While there is still quite some time before Renda signs and officially becomes a Panther, he will make up a quarterback room with other scholarship players in Eli Holstein, Julian Dugger and Mason Heintschel.
