Pitt’s Jaland Lowe ‘Most Likely Out’ For Miami Game

The Pitt Panthers dropped from No. 15 to No. 20 in the NET rankings after losing to No. 4 Duke. See the full NET rankings here.

The news continues to be bad concerning the Pitt men’s basketball team.

Struggling with a 4-game losing streak, the Panthers will likely be without their best player for their next game.

During his radio show on 93.7 The Fan, Pitt head coach Jeff Capel said that sophomore point guard Jaland Lowe is ‘most likely out’ for Saturday’s game against Miami, Florida.

In their last game against SMU, Lowe left in the game in the second half and was evaluated for a concussion after getting run into against SMU’s Boopie Miller. It appeared that Miller’s head collided hard with Lowe’s face, leaving the Panther guard on the floor as he received immediate medical attention.

After going through concussion protocol on the Pitt sideline, Lowe return to the game but then left less than a minute later.

Lowe is Pitt’s leading scorer, averaging 16.5 points per game and barring foul trouble, is someone that rarely leaves the court.

Pitt is already down a key piece of its backcourt as grad senior Damian Dunn suffered a broken elbow in the Panthers’ loss on Saturday at North Carolina.

Pitt, who now owns a 14-10 overall record and is 5-8 in ACC play, returns back home after two weeks away from the Petersen Events Center when it takes on a Miami Hurricanes team that sits at the bottom of the ACC. Tip is set for noon.
