Chartiers Valley grad Aislin Malcolm will move from one local Division I women’s basketball program to another after signing with Robert Morris University.

Malcolm — who entered the transfer portal at the end of January — spent two and a half years at Pitt and will now play even closer to home in Moon, Twp. as the Colonials officially announced her signing on Friday.

The 5-foot-10 junior guard appeared in 21 games with three starts this season at Pitt before entering the portal. She averaged 4.6 points per game, while shooting 35.8 percent (34-of-95) from the field and 38.5 percent (20-of-52) from 3-point range. She added 2.1 rebounds per contest.

As a sophomore, Malcolm started 31 games and averaged the second-most points for the Panthers with 9.3 per game. She shot 36.9 percent (135-of-301) from the floor and 31.6 percent (32-of-133) from beyond the arc.

Malcolm, a native of Carnegie, Pa., adds to first-year RMU head coach Chandler McCabe’s vision of keeping local high school talent home.

“Starting today, we’re going to develop stronger bonds with the Pennsylvania AAU and high school programs and players to ensure Robert Morris is a destination for the top players in the state…We’re going to lock down the best talent in the City of Pittsburgh and we’re going to keep home talent home,” McCabe said at her introductory press conference last March.

In Year 1 under McCabe, the Colonials have performed well, boasting an 11-14 overall record and a current 7-9 mark in Horizon League play — already surpassing the most win in conference play from the past two season.

Two players from the WPIAL are on the current RMU roster with grad forward Mya Murray (Uniontown) and Jada Lee (Carlynton).

RMU signed five players in its Class of 2025 with two hailing from Pennsylvania in WPIAL star London Creach (Oakland Catholic) and Layke Fields (Kennedy Catholic).

As for Malcolm, she will bring experience to the Colonials for next season. Coming out of high school, Malcolm was a four-star recruit and the 98th player in the country, according to ESPN.

Malcolm holds the Chartiers Valley’s all-time scoring record with 1,770 points. She won three WPIAL titles and a PIAA championship. As a senior, she averaged 16.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game
