The Pitt Panthers opened the 2025 season in dramatic fashion against Eastern Michigan,

After making a huge comeback in the 7th inning to tie the game, Pitt went to extra-innings and won it in the 12th inning on a walk-off home by Ryan Zuckerman.

This was the first extea-inning win on Opening Day in program history.

Pitt trailed 8-2 entering the bottom of the 7th inning but tied the game up. Big moments in the frame were a 2-run HR by Lorenzo Carrier, Gavin Miller 2-run single and 2-run double by 1B Luke Cantwell.

With the score now tied at 8, senior Kyle Demi came on to pitch 2 innings of scoreless relief. That was followed by three scoreless innings from sophomore Gavin Chillot, who picked up the first win of his collegiate career.

With one out in the bottom of the 12th inning, Zuckerman turned into the hero with the second walk-off homerun of his career.

Pitt returns to action tomorrow afternoon as they once again take on Eastern Michigan. Left-hander Ryan Reed will get the start for Pitt.
