Robert Morris’ men’s basketball team has had an incredible season under head coach Andy Toole.

However, Toole’s squad isn’t the only team in the Pittsburgh area that is turning heads.

The Colonials’ women’s program is also having a special year. After going 11-19 in 2022-23 and just 6-24 last year, Robert Morris’ women’s team is now 13-15 this season with a 9-10 record in Horizon League play. The Colonials started the conference slate just 1-7 in Horizon League play, but have since caught fire to win eight of their last 11 games. This comes after RMU finished last year with an abysmal 2-18 record in league action.

First-year head coach Chandler McCabe and her staff have done an excellent job with their team — and the Colonials are in position now to make a run in the upcoming Horizon League tournament.

RMU has one more regular season game, and it will come against Wright State on Saturday. The Colonials already beat Wright State this season once, winning 74-53 back on Jan. 29. In that game, Mya Murray had 16 points for RMU, while Raissa Nsabua had eight points and ten rebounds.

RMU is ranked No. 272 in the women’s basketball NET rankings, which is sixth among all Horizon League squads. However, with its recent hot streak, Robert Morris has moved all the way up into fourth place in the conference.

McCabe was name the head coach of the RMU WBB program on March 18, 2024, coming over from UCF, where she was an assistant coach. Prior to her time at UCF, McCabe was the associate head coach at George Mason in the Atlantic 10.
