Gavin Bartholomew is looking to become the first Pitt tight end drafted to the National Football League since both Dorin Dickerson and Nate Byham were selected in the 2010 draft.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end is in Indianapolis, Ind. as he prepares for the NFL Combine and spoke with the media Thursday, including Joe Smeltzer of Nittany Sports NowPSN’s Penn State affiliate.

Bartholomew reminisced on his Pitt career, talked about his strengths as a pass catcher and in the blocking game, along with his time so far leading up to the combine.

Watch the Gavin Bartholomew media availability below:

Bartholomew is one of four Panthers set to workout at the NFL Combine along with wide receiver Konata Mumpfield, kicker Ben Sauls and offensive lineman Branson Taylor.

During his days leading up to his scheduled workouts, Bartholomew says he met with representatives with nearly every NFL organization. In January, Bartholomew was projected to go in the sixth round by the Seattle Seahawks by Dalton Miller of Pro Football Network.

The Blue Mountain High School product had the opportunity to leave the Pitt program prior to his senior season, but decided to remain loyal and finish out his career with the Panthers. In his final collegiate season, he totaled 38 catches for 322 yards and four touchdowns as he earned All-ACC Honorable Mention.

When Bartholomew joined the Panthers as a true freshman, he made an immediate impact catching 27 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns as the Panthers went on to claim their first ACC Championship.

He closed his career at Pitt with 104 receptions for 1,248 yards and 11 touchdowns in 39 games.

Tight ends will be highlighted on Friday at the combine with their measurements and on-field workouts. On Saturday, they will conclude with the bench press and final interviews.
