Robert Morris Becomes Outright Winner of Horizon League Regular-Season Title

Robert Morris capped off a 23-win regular season on Thursday night with a win over IU Indy which helped claim at least a share of the Horizon League regular-season title.
Then, shortly after the conclusion of the Colonials victory, they received even more good news as Northern Kentucky and Milwaukee each claimed wins. Wins from the Mastodons and the Panthers meant that regardless of what Cleveland St. did in its final two games, Robert Morris clinched outright possession of the 2024-25 Horizon League regular-season title.
With that, the Colonials also clinched the top overall seed as they head into the Horizon League tournament next week.
While the Colonials are regular-season champions, they will need to continue their winning ways and win the Horizon League tournament if they want to make the NCAA Tournament. Despite being a 23-win team and the regular-season champions, the Horizon League is just a one-bid league which means there is no at-large hopes if they do not win the league’s tournament.
Whoever the opposition may be, the Colonials will host them in a quarterfinal matchup at the UPMC Events Center on Thursday, March 6. If the Colonials win that home playoff game, they will travel to the Corteva Coliseum to play in the semifinals on Monday, March 10.
The last time that the Colonials made the NCAA Tournament was technically in 2020 but since the tournament was cancelled due to the outbreak of COVID, the last time that they played in an NCAA Tournament was in 2015 when they beat North Florida in the First Four before losing to Duke in the Round of 64.
The regular-season title is the first for Robert Morris since they won the Northeast Conference title in 2014 and its first ever in the Horizon League. The team’s 23 wins are the most out of a Robert Morris team since they won 24 during the 2012-13 season.
