Meg McConnell Finalist for Mid-Major Player of the Year

Basketball fans in Pittsburgh are aware of how talented of a basketball player Megan McConnell is and it appears as though the basketball world is as well.
On Wednesday, Duquesne’s senior guard received a huge honor as she was named one of the five finalists for the 2025 Becky Mammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award.
McConnell’s final season in a Duquesne uniform has been remarkable as she’s leading the team in virtually every statistical category.
In her 29 starts this season, McConnell leads the Atlantic-10 in scoring (18.8 PPG), assists (150) and assists per game (5.2). Nationally, she is one of just three players to record multiple triple-doubles, while also posting seven triple-doubles. Additionally, McConnell ranks 4th in the A-10 in three-pointers per game (2.1), as she’s shooting 35.5 percent from 3-point range.

As a result of this dominance, McConnell was just named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team, All Defensive and All-Academic Teams.
McConnell’s impressive statistics aren’t limited to just the Atlantic-10 Conference.
Megan is the only Division 1 women’s basketball player this season to surpass 500 points, 200 rebounds, 100 assists, and 100 steals.
Along with that, she ranks second in the nation in both total steals (115) and steals per game (4.0).
As she finishes up her Duquesne career, McConnell is now third on the program’s all-time scoring list with 1,713 points, second all-time with 347 steals and became only the second player in Duquesne history to collect over 1,000 career rebounds. She currently has collected 1,041 rebounds.
The winner of this award will be announced on Wednesday, April 2. The other four finalists are Drake’s Katie Dinnebier, Gonzaga’s Yvonne Ejim, Harvard’s Harmoni Turner and Saint Joseph’s Laura Ziegler.
