Following the time and effort Archie Collins has put into recruiting him, it comes as no surprise that Pitt has made the top five for Kell High School product Jalen Williams out of Georgia.

Collins has been recruiting the talented 2026 four-star cornerback for over a year and Pitt was one of the first D-1 programs to extend Williams an offer.

That played a huge part into Pitt make his top five, along with Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Arizona State and NC State. Other Power 4 programs that have extended an offer to this talented defensive back from Marietta, Georgia include- Auburn, BYU, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Central Florida, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.

Prior to the recruiting dead period in the month of February, Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke with Williams following an in-home visit he had with Collins.

“The evening was pretty smooth,” Williams told PSN. “Coach Collins and I have met a few times in person, and we speak often so last night was really for him to meet my dad and kind of gain familiarity there. It gave me and my dad a chance to ask some more in-depth questions about Pitt, Coach Collins and where they see me in their grand scheme.

“The best part of the night for me was coach Collins asking me to break down my own film for him,” said Williams. “So, he put my tape on, and I broke down our coverages and alignments. What I saw and was thinking, what tells the receivers and offense gave that led me to do what I did each play.

“I think I have a pretty good relationship with coach. Like I said we’ve been in touch for quite a while. Pitt was one of the first big schools to offer and recruit me. He’s been there from the beginning of when my recruitment heated up last spring. I think he’s a really good dude and genuine. He speaks pretty bluntly and always speaking on what areas I should focus on to constantly improve myself as a ball player and just a young man in general.”

In terms of official visits, Williams has locked in ones to Oklahoma State (April 18-20), Arizona State (May 2-4) and NC State (June 13-15).
