Pitt Wrestling Crown 3 ACC Champions, Finish 2nd as Team

It was a tremendous day for the Pitt wrestling program at the 2025 ACC Championships, hosted by Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
As a team, the Panthers finished second as a team, equaling their best mark since becoming members of the ACC. The second-place team finish matched the accomplishments of the 2015 and 2020 teams.
As is normally the case in sports, team success translates to individual success and that certainly was the case on Sunday.
Congratulations to graduate student Reece Heller (184 pounds), redshirt-sophomore Mac Stout (197 pounds), and redshirt-sophomore Dayton Pitzer (285 pounds) as they each won ACC titles in their weight class. Three Pitt wrestlers winning a title match a program best, which also occurred in 2022, 2017 and 2015.
Redshirt junior Luca Augustine finished as runner-up in the 174-pound match and claimed his first ACC medal.
The story of the day was the performance of Pitzer, who defeated both the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, to win the title. As a result, he was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the ACC Wrestling Championship.
The Pitt program also had 3 other wrestlers qualify for the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships, as Nick Babin (125 pounds), Briar Priest (141 pounds) and Jared Keslar (165) earned automatic bids due to their placement.
Next up is the NCAA Championships which will take place on March 20-22 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
The NCAA Selection Show and at-large announcements will happen on March 11 with the seedings being announced on March 12.
