Since the start of the calendar year, 2026 3-star offensive lineman Rhett Morris is a player that the Pitt staff has consistently recruited.

Before the start of the college football recruiting dead period in February, the New Jersey native received a visit from Pitt offensive line coach Jeremy Darveau and the two met up again this week.

This time, Morris made a visit to Pittsburgh on Monday to see Darveau and the Pitt Panthers on their first day of spring practice.

Morris (6’3″, 290-pounds), who was previously committed to Wake Forest, holds offers from Pitt, Boston College, Army, Coastal Carolina, Kent State, Navy, Old Dominion, Temple, UNLV, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia. Following his visit to Pitt, Morris traveled to Morgantown on Tuesday to check out Rich Rogriguez and West Virginia.

Morris only plans on making a couple more spring visits (Virginia Tech and James Madison) and is seriously considering Pitt. Prior to Pitt, Morris made spring visits to Clemson, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, NC State, Coastal Carolina

“My biggest takeaways from the Pitt visit really were all about the closeness of the players and coaches,” Morris tells Pittsburgh Sports Now. “The current players I talked to spoke a lot about their relationships with the coaches and the real bond they were able to build. That made a real positive impression because it seems a lot like my high school experience at Don Bosco Prep. Family is really important to me.”

“I had great meetings with Coach Narduzzi and Coach Darveau after practice. It was great to spend time with Coach Darveau and talk about how the offensive line room is set up. I love that he tracks pancakes by the game and the season by player! Coach Narduzzi spoke a lot about the amazing culture of Pitt football, family and what to look for as I am visiting all of these schools. His points about making sure it’s the right fit for you really struck me.”

At this point, Morris has scheduled one official visit for later this summer and that’s to Pitt (June 19-21). It’s likely that Morris will schedule another official visit or two but right now, Pitt looks to be in a good spot with him.

“This visit really helped me to understand the layout of the Pitt football and academic campus in relation to each other,” said Morris. “I really liked my entire experience this week. I’m really looking forward to getting back for my OV in June.”
