Sights & Sounds: Pitt Defensive Line Building Explosiveness

PITTSBURGH — Pitt spring practice No. 2 was underway from the South Side on Thursday with drills running at full speed and different position groups working on building explosiveness, including the defensive line.
As spring camp heats up, one of the key position battles unfolding is at defensive end. The Panthers brought in a handful of transfers with Blaine Spires (Utah State), Joey Zelinksy (Eastern Michigan) and Jaeden Moore (Oregon) all looking to grab a starting role across from returning starter Jimmy Scott. The trio of transfers were active in practice, along with freshman JuJu Anderson.
Pitt’s defensive tackle room looks to be stength for the Panthers in 2025 with returning starters in Nick James and Sean FitzSimmons, along with some young talent in redshirt sophomore Isaiah Neal, sophomore Francis Brewu and redshirt freshman Jahsear Whittington. Ty Yuhas is another redshirt freshman working towards playing time.
