Three-Star DB Xavier Harmon Discusses Pitt as a Finalist

Conroe High School (Texas) three-star defensive back Xavier Harmon listed Pitt in his final schools recently as he continues to learn about the program and continue to build on his relationship with the staff.
Pitt is in a competitive list for the 6-2, 180-pound recruit with Oklahoma State, SMU, Arkansas, TCU, Kansas State, Utah and Stanford.
Harmon spoke with Pittsburgh Sports Now about why he included Pitt as a finalist and what they are doing to stand out.
Putting Pitt as a top school mattered to me because of the resources they have and the help I could have from them to get to the next level was incredible to me,” Harmon said.
Defensive coordinator Randy Bates has passed the message along on what Pitt can provide for Harmon. Bates visited Harmon at home in January.
“Me and coach Bates have become closer and built a solid relationship,” he said. “being that he’s also met my parents and visited my home made things a lot better.
“When coach Bates visited it was very genuine and down to earth. We all sat around laughed and talked about my future and how being at Pitt could help further my future.”

Harmon holds a lot of attributes that fit what Pitt is looking for in a defensive back, no matter the position, with his physical approach and great instincts.
“Coaches often tell me they love my style of play and how I move with my size. Also being able to play corner and safety is a big thing for them,” Harmon said.
In his recruitment, Harmon has some priorities when looking for a future home.
“A few priorities I have are making sure I am being looked at to play and get on the field, and also somewhere that will be like home for me and further my life after football,” Harmon said.
While Harmon has yet to visit Pitt, he says he’d “love to” but for now, he has official visits set up with Oklahoma State (April 4-6), Stanford (May 16), Arkansas (May 30-June 1), Utah (June 6-8), Kansas State (June 12-14) and SMU (June 20-22).
Rivals rates Harmon as a three-star nickel prospect and the 11th best player at his position in the 2026 class. He also checks in as the No. 64 player in the talent-rich state of Texas.
Pitt is a school that is “up there” for Harmon as he eyes a commitment timeline some time in July.
