During the month of January, Pitt defensive coordinator Randy Bates spent valuable time in the state of Texas recruiting the talent-rich area. He stopped in to numerous schools and homes to connect with prospects and further relationships with those families.

One prospect he met with was three-star cornerback Isaiah McMillian out of Katy High School and now, the 2026 target has scheduled an official visit to Pitt from June 12-14.

“The coaches have always stayed in touch and it’s one of my top schools right now,” McMillian told Pittsburgh Sports Now to why he wanted to lock in an official visit.

McMillian, who stands at 6-foot-1, 171 pounds, picked up an offer from the Panthers on Jan. 9 from Bates before the coach stopped by two weeks later on the 21st.

Bates relayed that Pitt was interested in McMillian as a player during his in-home visit, he said. Head coach Pat Narduzzi and cornerbacks coach Archie Collins have also shown interest by staying in touch and discussing the program.

Along with Pitt, McMillian holds offers from TCU, Oregon State, Houston, San Diego State, Louisiana, Tulane, UTEP, Tulsa, North Texas, Texas State, Arkansas State, UTSA, Utah State, Southern Mississippi, Sacramento State. He will take an official visit at Houston from June 19-21.

This past fall as a junior for Katy High School, McMillian recorded 41 solo tackles, nine tackles for loss, 18 pass breakups and four interceptions and was named a unanimous First-Team District Defensive Back. He also runs a 4.40 40-yard dash, according to Six Star Football.

When watching his tape, it’s easy to pick up that McMillian attacks the ball with physicality, is a sound tackler and has excellent instincts and closing speed to disrupt plays.

247Sports rates McMillian as an 87 overall three-star recruit. He checks in as the No. 68 cornerback in the class and 101st prospect out of Texas.

McMillian is just one of a few defensive backs that have scheduled official visits so far with the Panthers. Pitt safety commit Isaac Patterson will take an official visits from June 12-14. Michigan native and safety prospect Marcus Jennings will take an official visit from June 5-7.
