Former Four-Star Pitt Target Enters Transfer Portal

A former Pitt 4-star target is looking for a new basketball home.
On3 is reporting that Syracuse guard Kyle Cuffe Jr. plans on entering the NCAA Transfer portal. At the end of the season, Cuffe stated he planned on returning, “Coach Red and I had conversations for me coming back. That’s the plan”, but obviously things changed.
Cuffe attended Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey and originally committed to Kansas before transferring to Syracuse ahead of the 2023-24 season.
This past season at Syracuse, Cuffe averaged 5.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists.
Coming out of Blair Academy, Cuffe had a Final 6 of Pitt, Kansas, St. John’s Georgia, Kansas State and Texas A&M before eventually selecting the Jayhawks. He was a consensus Top 100 player and looked at as an explosive guard and a standout on defense, which led to many steals and resulting in transition points for his team.
After receiving his offer from Pitt in April of 2022, PSN spoke with Cuffe about his relationship with Jeff Capel, who was personally recruiting him.
“Coach told me that he liked how I compete and that I never back down, that was the main thing that he liked about my game,” Cuffe said. “He said, yeah there’s always going to be athleticism, there’s always going to be skill but the one thing that he really likes about me is that I compete, I’m aggressive and that I always work hard.”
It remains to be seen what the Pitt roster will look like for next season and which players currently scheduled to return will decide to enter the transfer portal, which official opens on March 24th.
