Pitt Continues to Stand Out for Coveted Four-Star RB After Visit

Coveted four-star running back Damon Ferguson has expressed interest in Pitt football for some time now as he made another return trip on Saturday for the program’s spring scrimmage at Acrisure Stadium.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound 2026 prospect out of Milford Mill Academy in Baltimore Md. is a very important priority for the Panthers’ staff and they will look to close the deal on his official visit he has set for June 5-7.
While in Pittsburgh, Ferguson received another opportunity to view the Pitt program, which led to an interaction with a former All-American talent that plays in the NFL.
“My experience has been great like every other time before,” Ferguson told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I was able to meet Calijah Kancey who gave me more info about the school and coaches. It was great to meet a player like him. Hearing how he went about his time there and why he comes back was awesome. I definitely liked the fact that the running backs are highly involved in the offense.”
On the sidelines, Ferguson watched offensive coordinator Kade Bell’s offense closely and it’s one that is piquing his interest.
“I love that the running backs play a role in the passing game. If you’re a playmaker they figure out ways to keep you involved,” Ferguson said.
Ferguson is equipped with many of the tools that Pitt is looking for in a dynamic running back that can fit the offense.
“They love that I can catch, hit the hole, and get vertical. They also like that I play physical on defense as well,” he said.
Since Ferguson received a Pitt offer over a year ago in January of 2024, he has visited the Panther for a spring visit last March and was in attendance for the Backyard Brawl. Each time, he has met with running backs coach Lindsey Lamar, who also happens to be the DMV area recruiter.

“Coach Lamar has been recruiting me hard but we stay in contact constantly. It was great seeing the other coaches and catching up with them. Like always a great visit,” Ferguson said.
Ferguson hold a four-star rating from both On3 and ESPN. The latter sees him as the 201st overall talent in the 2026 class, the 14th athlete and sixth-best prospect out of Maryland. On3 ranks him as the 25th running back in the class.
In nine games as a junior, Ferguson recorded 1,341 yards (12.8 yards per carry) and 16 touchdowns on the ground. He added six catches for 118 yards (18.8 yards per reception) and another touchdown. He also notched 26 tackles, three interceptions and six pass breakups on defense.
The highly-recruited running back has a long-ranging offer list that includes over 20 Power Four offers. Pitt, Michigan State, Arkansas, West Virginia, North Carolina, N.C. State, Stanford, Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Indiana, Maryland, Northwestern, Minnesota, Rutgers and UCF make up the top offers.
As the recruiting process nears a decision over the next few months, Ferguson has one key priority he is looking for in a school and Pitt matches it.
“I have to have to be around great men who are committed to molding young men. That’s why I’ve visited so many times,” he said.
Pitt currently “stands out right now” for Ferguson and the Panthers will have an all-important official visit in June.
