Pitt football hosted a handful of important prospects in the 2026 recruiting class for Saturday’s spring scrimmage at Acrisure Stadium and one of them was 2026 target Marcus Jennings, who has been a top target for Pitt.

Before the day was all said and done, Jennings — a 6-foot-3, 190-pound talent from Cass Tech High School in Detroit, Mich. — made his verbal commitment to the Pitt program. He is being recruited to Pitt as an outside linebacker.

Jennings officially revealed his commitment on Sunday via X.

Jennings becomes the fourth commitment in the Pitt Class of 2026 and second in as many days. Safety Isaac Patterson, three-star wide receiver Dylan Wester, who committed on Friday, and quarterback Angelo Renda make up the other verbals in the class.

A three-star recruit, Jennings selected the Panthers over other offers from West Virginia, Illinois, UMass, Coastal Carolina, Marshall, Charlotte, Akron, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Buffalo, Miami (OH), Toledo, Kent State, Bowling Green and Eastern Kentucky.

Jennings recently announced an official visit with the Panthers from June 5-7. He was also in attendance for Pitt-Clemson back in November.

“I wanted to lock in an official visit with Pitt because they are a top school in my recruitment. I want to learn about the culture and overall brand of their program,” Jennings told Pittsburgh Sports Now back in February.

Pitt cornerbacks coach Archie Collins has been critical in landing Jennings as the area recruiter, along with linebackers coach Ryan Manalac, who visited Jennings in January.

“It meant a lot to me for him to come down and see me. We talked about some of their system and my school’s system seeing how things would fit and just chopping up ball in general,” Jennings said.

Pitt continued to put on the full-court press recently with the staff sending letters and keeping in contact with Jennings.

Manalac and the Pitt staff have relayed to Jennings what they see in him and why he is a key recruit for them.

“They are telling me that Pitt fits my brand of football, and they like my position flexibility and my physicality,” Jennings said.

As a junior, Jennings returned home to help Cass Tech claim a MHSAA Division I State Championship. On the season, he totaled 120-plus tackles, two interceptions, five sacks, two forced fumbles and recoveries.

Jennings holds a three-star rating from 247Sports and checks in as the 94th safety in the class and No. 21 player out of Michigan.
