Pitt has reached out to a number of transfer portal prospects already, including Quinnipiac transfer forward Amarri Monroe, per source.

Monroe is a 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward out of Newburgh, New York who spent one season at Wofford before spending the last two at Quinnipiac. This past season, Monroe averaged 18.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while shooting 41% from the field. He shot just 27% from three-point range this season, making 51 of his 187 attempts from beyond the arch. Monroe posted nine double doubles this past year.

After scoring a total of 80 points in his rookie year at Wofford, Monroe then scored 440 points as a sophomore at Quinnipiac before scoring a career-high 578 this year to eclipse the 1,000-point total.

Monroe’s shooting volume, as well as his free-throw numbers, show that he is a confident shooter. He made 83% of his free-throw attempts this year. In his sophomore season, Monroe actually was better from three, hitting 35% of his attempts.

Looking at his Synergy profile, Monroe spends most of his time (74% of his shots) shooting threes. He is also an excellent mid-range shooter, having made 18 of his 37 (49%) attempts from 17-feet out to the three-point arch. He is one of the many transfer prospects that Pitt has contacted since the portal opened on Monday.
