Pitt’s Amsal Delalic to Enter Transfer Portal

After one season with the Pitt basketball program, Pitt’s Amsal Delalic will now hit the transfer portal.

Delalic, a 6-foot-8 wing, averaged 3.8 points per game while shooting 46% from the field and 35% from three for the Panthers. He appeared in 21 games after beginning the season injured and not playing in some of Pitt’s mid and late-season games. The Bosnian showed flashes of offensive success in his limited minutes, and had five games with at least seven points.

In a win over Miami, Delalic had a great game, posting 14 points in 28 minutes of action.

Delalić played 28 minutes in the win over Miami. After the game, his head coach Jeff Capel credited him for his excellent contributions in the win. In his extended appearance, Delalić scored a season-high 14 points as he made nearly 50% of his 13 shots.

“As far as Amsal, we need him to play well,” Capel said on Monday on the ACC Coaches Conference Call. “He played well the other day on Saturday. Again, I didn’t know going into the game that he would play that many minutes, but he played well and we decided to stick with him. Hopefully that leads to him continuing to play well for us.”

Pitt’s 21-year-old freshman was coming off a season in which he averaged 13.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in the top Bosnian professional league prior to coming to Pitt. He shot an even 40% from three-point range last year, going 82 for 205 from beyond the arch.

Then, last spring, he visited Pitt, and shortly after, committed to the Panthers’ program.
