Running back Daniel Carter was an exception since he’s still recovering from injury.
A few of Pitt’s players were also in Indianapolis last month for the NFL Scouting Combine.
NFL Combine invitees tight end Gavin Bartholomew, offensive lineman Branson Taylor, kicker Ben Sauls and wide receiver Konata Mumpfield will go through the work outs on the South Side.
In addition, offensive lineman Jason Collier Jr., linebacker Brandon George, defensive end Nate Matlack and safeties Josh McCarty, Donovan McMillon and Phillip O’Brien Jr. participated in Pro Day.
At the combine in Indianapolis, Ind., Bartholomew ran an official 4.70 40-yard dash. He totaled 104 receptions for 1,248 yards and 11 touchdowns in 39 games with Pitt.
Mumpfield posted a 4.59 40 with a 10-second split of 1.54. During his Pitt career, the Georgia native totaled 1,940 yards on 154 receptions and 11 touchdowns. He joined Pitt after one season at Akron in which he was named as a Freshman All-American with 751 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
Taylor, who suffered a season-ending lateral meniscus injury against Cal in October, attended the NFL Combine, but did not participate in the drills due to his recovery process. During an interview at the combine, Taylor did allude to his expectation to work out at Pitt’s Pro Day. Taylor concluded his career playing in 45 games, including 21 starts.
Sauls got another chance to show off his strong leg at Pitt Pro Day. Over the past three seasons, Sauls made 52 of 64 field goals, and his 81.3 success rate finished 13th in ACC history. Sauls ranked third all-time in scoring at Pitt with 278 points. He also made a Pitt-record 15 consecutive field goals.
