Talented Texas 3-Star WR Recaps Pitt Visit

For the second consecutive Saturday, the Pitt football team took part in a scrimmage at Acrisure Stadium, which was done so in front of a number of quality recruits.
The thing that stands out about the recruits in attendance is that many traveled to Pittsburgh from out of state, including from as far as the state of Texas.
2026 3-star wide receiver Ace “Boogie” Theus from Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas was a key prospect in town on Saturday.
The 5-foot-9, 160-pound speedster has an offer list that includes Pitt, Arizona State, Auburn, Baylor, Colorado, Maryland, Memphis, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Purdue, TCU, UNLV, Utah and Wisconsin.
Theus is someone Pitt has been pursuing since extending him an offer in January of 2024. This past January, Pitt tight end coach Jacob Bronowski visited Theus and his family.

Today, Theus and his family returned the favor by visiting Pittsburgh for the first time.
“I loved the visit 100% for my first time and the coaches took care of us and treated me and my mom like family,” Theus told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “They gave us a tour of campus and the facilities and I loved it.”
“I had a lot of great interactions with both coaches and players. I loved the coaches but what also really spoke to me was how the players, especially the receivers took me in as a brother, got to know me and gave me advice and I learned a lot from them. They were a lot of fun to watch and hang out with. My interactions with the coaches were great. They all knew who I was and treated us like family too and you can tell how real and honest they were as well.”
Theus is one of the fastest wide receivers in the Class of 2026, having been timed at 4.42 in the 40 and 10.71 in the 100-meter dash.
After talking with Kade Bell and watching the Pitt offense, Theus has no doubts he could excel in the Pitt system.
”Football wise, they were able to get the receivers the ball effectively and efficiently,” said Theus. “The spring game allowed me to see the level of competition, physicality and speed they play at and I definitely feel like I could fit into their program as an effective player.”

“Coach Bell views me as a weapon because of my versatility and explained how he would move me around in different positions including getting reps at running back and outside receiver. I’m confident that I would be used in the right way and be able to get the ball. I am confident in I myself that I would fit into the program and that I would flourish in their offense.”
As we wrapped up our interview, I was curious to see if Pitt improved themselves in eyes and if a return visit will be happening.
“ Yes, Pitt did go up in my eyes even though it was already one of my top schools,” said Theus. “Just seeing the campus and experiencing the way they play and the different relationships. I have built with coaches. It feels like a family and a brotherhood, which is a big thing for me.
“Overall, Pitt is a really good school in my eyes and this spring game opened my eyes a lot more. So, I will be returning for an official visit June 12th-14th and I’m excited and looking forward to be able to experience and visit again a little more.”
