Pitt QB Commit Angelo Renda Blown Away by First Visit

As 2026 Pitt quarterback commit Angelo Renda walked the halls of the Panthers’ South Side facility for the first time, he couldn’t help but notice the names that grace the walls and one thought came to mind.
“I’m hoping to add to that list.”
Seeing the names of quarterback greats Dan Marino and Kenny Pickett, along with other legends sparked that desire.
“Two legendary Pitt quarterbacks Dan Marino and Kenny Pickett. They were up on the wall everywhere. Different position groups, you have Larry Fitzgerald, Tony Dorsett, Aaron Donald, Mike Ditka. The list goes on and on. The Pitt alumni lineage is top notch,” Renda told Pittsburgh Sports Now.
Surrounded by the the history of the Pitt program, Renda was in awe.
“It was pretty crazy to see all their old trophies, how much hall of famers have come through Pitt and all their old alumni. It’s cool to see how much pride they take in all their alumni and all the people that have come through Pitt,” Renda said.
That was just a small portion of Renda’s action-packed experience on Saturday during his first visit to the Pitt program.
Thank you @Pitt_FB for having me out! Can’t wait to get back up in June! #H2P #H2G @CoachDuzzPittFB @Kb1Raw @coachjbronowski @CoachKlineAlex @SamKuk20 @coachrdodge @SLC_Recruiting @QBHitList @ThrowItDeep pic.twitter.com/v6ulfI9M6T

“This was my first time up on campus,” Renda said. “Taking a tour of the city, it’s incredible to see how much history is here. Looking at all the buildings that are built so long ago and getting to tour one of them. It was pretty incredible to see how everything is up and running.
“Checking out the facilities with Pitt matched with the Steelers, it’s pretty incredible to see how intense it really is up in here in Pittsburgh. You hear all the talk about how nice the facilities are and then when you get up here and see it, it really is on a whole different level.”
The Southlake Carroll High School (Texas) product received an offer from Pitt in January and felt so strongly about the rapidly growing relationship he built with offensive coordinator Kade Bell and what he pitched about the Pitt program that the three-star prospect committed to the Panthers before ever visiting.
“Me and Coach Bell have a great relationship,” Renda said. “Me and him playing the same position, he was a quarterback. I learn a lot from him. He’s a very very smart guy and we were talking ball [Saturday]. Listening to how he wants to attack defenses is pretty similar to what I do in high school. The offenses that he’s been a part of have been very successful. That’s why he just got a big contract up at Pitt. I’m hoping he stays a long time, so I can be a part of his offense for a while and learn under him and take as much information under him in my years at Pitt.”
On Saturday, the 6-foot, 180-pound signal caller met up with Bell and received a first-person view of what the coach was preaching.
“I got to listen to Coach Bell address the offense on what the gameplan was and how they were going to attack the defense. They definitely did attack them. Offense got the dub in the scrimmage, so that was really fun to see. Coach Bell was locked in,” Renda said.

Prior to the spring scrimmage, Renda also had the opportunity to experience head coach Pat Narduzzi in action in a team meeting.
“I got to sit in their team meeting and listen to Coach Narduzzi address the team. Just kind of how he carried himself and the energy he had was awesome to see. I could feel myself sitting in those seats listening to Coach Narduzzi getting hyped up for a game. I was hyped up and I wasn’t even playing,” Renda said.
Renda also walked out onto the field at Acrisure Stadium for the first time on Saturday and was blown away by what he saw.
“The stadium is awesome. Before the scrimmage, I walked around, went to the locker rooms. It’s really phenomenal. Pitt having two locker rooms is almost unheard of, so seeing that was pretty awesome. Them sharing a stadium with the Steelers is so cool to me because it’s a massive stadium. They might not fill out every single one of them, but people don’t know this, they pack it. They’ll pack 50,000 people in there and I can’t wait to be a part of it and get the place bumping,” he said.
When Renda enrolls in January, he plans to study business. Visiting the campus in Oakland was another piece of his trip that stood out, including a stop at the Cathedral of Learning.
“The campus is very beautiful,” he said. “Going around and seeing these massive buildings that have been here for ages and how there’s still classes going on in them, it’s pretty crazy to see.
“It’s a pretty cool vibe coming from Southlake, Texas to Pittsburgh. It’s a little different, but the vibe suits me well and I can’t wait to come up here in January.”

Renda will return for an official visit from June 5-7 and looks to take that opportunity to further his bonds with the coaches and players and check out some other places in Pittsburgh.
“I want to continue to build relationships with all the coaches and the players,” Renda said. “Really just dive into more of the offense and just chatting Coach Bell’s ear on what he sees and why he calls things against different coverages. Just getting more of an understanding of the offense because why not learn everything before I get up there? I’m going to ask a lot of questions and continue to learn and have some fun up there. Maybe take some visits where I haven’t been in the city yet.”
