Sights & Sounds: Jake Overman Leads Pitt Tight Ends

PITTSBURGH — Week 4 of Pitt spring camp opened on the South Side Tuesday morning with the Panthers back indoors at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
Pitt’s tight ends will look to replace the play of Gavin Bartholomew, who is off in hopes of getting drafted into the National Football League.
Jake Overman is in his second year with the program after transferring in from Oregon State. He is looking to take over as the No. 1 tight end both with on-field production and as a leader in the room and offense. The sixth-year senior is coming off a season in which he collected 17 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown.
Sophomore Malachi Thomas is looking to take a leap this year for the Panthers and brings a big 6-foot-4, 235-pound frame that will be useful in the run-blocking game.
From there, it comes down to redshirt senior Jake Renda and freshman Max Hunt, who is still in the early stages of development.
