Pitt is in consideration to land a 2026 three-star edge rusher out of Virginia with the Panthers in the final list of schools.

Kamren Johnson — a 6-foot-4, 250-pound prospect out of Green Run High School in Virginia Beach, Va. — listed Pitt in his top six schools, along with Virginia Tech, Virginia, Duke, Michigan State and Delaware. He is set to make his decision on June 13, he included in a post on X.

What’s interesting about Pitt’s inclusion on this list is that the Panthers have not offered Johnson. They have expressed interest over time by sending mail and keeping in contact, but Pitt has yet to officially extend an offer. Despite that, Pitt is an outside choice and could be a late development in his recruitment.

Of note, Johnson attends the same high school that current Pitt early enrollee freshman linebacker Emmanuel Taylor did and the two were teammates in the fall.

For Johnson, he has official visits set for Virginia from May 30-June 1, Delaware on June 12-14 and Virginia Tech from June 20-22. He also recently took spring visits to Both Virginia and Virginia Tech.

In a recent story published by Jacquie Franciulli on 247Sports, it appears that “right now UVA seems to be the front runner here.” 247Sports considers Johnson as a three-star recruit, the 90th edge rusher in the class and 21st overall player in Virginia.

Johnson brings a physical presence off the edge with great instincts and closing speed. He has the attributes that Pitt looks for in its edge rushers, especially with a big frame as well.

As a junior, he recorded 65 tackles, 28 for loss, 12 sacks and forced two fumbles. He was also named First Team All-Region.
