Louisville Cardinals Pat Kelsey

Louisville basketball seems to be continuing its hot streak into the offseason after year one under new head coach Pat Kelsey.

The Cardinals, who struggled for years under Kenny Payne, went 18-2 this season in ACC play under Kelsey, making the NCAA Tournament in his first season. Now, just weeks after the transfer portal opened up on March 24, the Cardinals’ staff has reloaded with several important transfer commitments.

First, the Cardinals landed Ryan Conwell, a former Indiana State and Xavier star guard. Following Conwell, the Cardinals also added Adrian Wooley, one of the best players in the portal out of Kennesaw State. Then, on Thursday, Louisville landed former Virginia sharpshooter Isaac McKneely out of the portal.

Playing under Sean Miller at Xavier, Conwell had a stellar season, averaging 16.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He shot 45% from the field as a junior this past season, including 41% from three-point range. Conwell, who was one of the best shooters in the portal each of the last two years, made 109 threes at Indiana State in 2023-24, and 99 at Xavier in the 2024-25 season.

Wooley is a 6-foot-5 freshman guard who averaged 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. He shot 42% from three-point range this season, making 73 threes.

McKneely, a West Virginia native, is a 6-foot-4 guard. In his recent junior season playing for the Cavaliers, he averaged 14.4 points and 2.9 assists per contest. He shot 44% from the field and 42% from three-point range. McKneely made a career-high 101 three pointers this past season at that 42% clip, and made 82 three pointers the year prior at a 45% rate.

It is safe to say Louisville has reloaded its back court ahead of next season, especially with elite shooting guards.
