Central Catholic 2027 OL ‘Honored’ to Earn Pitt Offer on Visit

Central Catholic 2027 offensive lineman James Halter has seen a spark in his recruitment over the past two weeks and it was only a matter of time before Pitt stepped in with a the hometown offer.
It so happened that Halter was down on the South Side Thursday to check out a spring practice when the Panthers extended an offer to the 6-foot-5, 265-pound WPIAL talent.
“As a life long Pittsburgher I’m honored,” he told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Coach Narduzzi offered me and it was a great surprise.”
Pitt is now the fourth Division I offer for Halter all coming from Power Four schools in Boston College, NC State and Michigan State.
After a great visit and conversation with @CoachDuzzPittFB and @CoachDarveau, I am so grateful to receive an offer from @Pitt_FB #H2P@setharnold_ @CoachLehmeier @timothysasson @DAWGHZERECRUITS @210ths @PCC_FOOTBALL @wpialsportsnews @JM_OLine_Camp pic.twitter.com/HfRDxriyw4

During his visit at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex, Halter met with offensive line coach Jeremy Darveau to get a better understanding about his unit and the offense.
“Coach Darveau, the offensive line coach, and I talked a lot. He told me about what he expects out of his linemen and their role in the team. It’s a talented group with great upside and I enjoyed watching them. It was a great experience, it was a great physical practice and all around a positive experience.” Halter said.
Halter and his parents spent time talking with the coaches and watching the way they interacted and instructed the players. The overall support was something that stood out to Halter
“The care they showed to the players both athletically and academically,” Halter said about one of his main takeaways from the practice.
Like many local prospects, Halter is quite familiar with the Pitt program.
“I’ve had many friends and family that have went to Pitt, and I’ve been coached by a lot of the old players at the Joe Moore Camp,” Halter said.
Halter primarily played tight end as a sophomore for Central Catholic, but will slot in on the offensive line moving forward. He is the second Central Catholic offensive lineman in the 2027 class to hold an offer from Pitt with four-star Jimmy Kalis. Kalis continues to emerge as one of the top prospects in the nation as he added recent offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Michigan and Ohio State.
