With the offseason transfers and players that graduated, the Pitt Panthers 2025 basketball roster is in need of outside shooting.

This morning, Pitt learned that they’re now a finalist for one of the best 3-point shooters in college basketball last season.

College Basketball Insider Joe Tipton is reporting that Pitt is one of five finalists for Chattanooga transfer guard Honor Huff, the nation’s leader in made 3-point fields last season. According to Tipton, Huff is focusing on Pitt, Iowa, St. John’s West Virginia and Vanderbilt.

The 5’10”, guard led college basketball in 3-pointers last with, making 131 of his 315 attempts (41.6%). The All-SoCon First Team selection averaged 15.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists in leading Chattanooga to an NIT title.

Huff’s success from beyond the arc hasn’t been a one-year deal as he’s made over 100 threes over the last two college basketball seasons.

Huff is a native of Brooklyn, New York and started his college basketball career at VMU before playing the last two seasons at Chattanooga.

The Iowa Hawkeyes and first-year head men’s basketball coach Ben McCollum are busy working to reshape the roster via the NCAA transfer portal.

Another name that has entered the mix as a potential Hawkeye is former Chattanooga guard Honor Huff. According to 247Sports’ Dushawn London, Huff had a Zoom meeting with Iowa on Sunday.

Huff also met with Penn State and plans to meet with St. John’s and Vanderbilt. The 5-foot-10 guard is reportedly in talks with West Virginia as well.

Huff averaged 15.2 points, 2.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game while shooting 42.4% from the field, 41.6% from 3-point distance and 82.0% from the free throw line last season with Chattanooga. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Huff led the Mocs in scoring each of the past two seasons.

Since the opening of the transfer portal, Pitt has received commitments from Iowa State center Dishon Jackson and his teammate wing Nojus Indrusaitis.

Potentially landing Huff would be a huge get for Jeff Capel and would fill a large hole on the roster.
