Pitt’s Papa Amadou Kante Enters Transfer Portal

Published

on

Pitt forward Papa Amadou Kante has entered the transfer portal, a source told Pittsburgh Sports Now and The Portal Report.

Kante played in 22 games for Pitt as a redshirt freshman, averaging under seven minutes per game. A 6-foot-10 big man, Kante is a native of Dakar, Senegal. He became a fan favorite during his two years at Pitt due to his hard-working play style and enthusiastic attitude while on the bench and on the court.

Kante wraps up his Pitt career with 47 points scored on 55% from the field.

Kante, a 6-foot-10, four-star redshirt freshman big man, was one of the best prospects that Capel has brought into Pitt at the time of his pledge. The Senegal native moved to the United States in 2019, and quickly burst onto the recruiting scene with a strong high-school career at South Kent School (CT).

Preparing for his freshman year in 2023-24, Kante injured his knee, requiring surgery. He missed the entire 2023-24 season.

Kante joins Jaland Lowe, Amsal Delalic, Guillermo Diaz Graham, Jorge Diaz Graham, and Marlon Barnes Jr. as Panthers who have entered the transfer portal so far. Lowe committed to Kentucky.

Lowe, a third-team All-ACC member, played two seasons at Pitt. This year, he averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game for Pitt. Lowe is a Missouri City, Texas native who stands at 6-foot-3. The former top-100 recruit started 19 games as a rookie, averaging 26.5 minutes per game and scoring 9.6 points per game. Then, in a bigger role as a sophomore, Lowe played 35.5 minutes per game and averaged 16.8 points per contest.

Stay tuned on PSN to find out where these players will be headed this portal season!
