Pitt Gets Visit from Florida WR Dallas Crescenzo

On their last day of spring practice last week before the Blue/Gold Spring Game, Pitt hosted a sophomore from Florida.

2027 wide receiver Dallas Crescenzo from Santaluces High School in West Palm Beach, Florida made his first trip to Pittsburgh.

The purpose of this visit for tw0-fold for Crescenzo- 1) he wanted to meet the Pitt coaches and learn more about the Pitt program. 2) he wanted to find out if the offer he received from Pitt was a ‘real offer’ and was a committable one. Back on January 30th, Crescenzo announced that he’d received an offer from JJ Laster and Pitt, which was his first from a Power Four program.

At this stage of his recruitment, the 6’0″, 175-pound athlete holds offers from Pitt, Eastern Michigan, Florida International and Western Kentucky.

“When I first got word of the offer, my head coach told me because I’m only a sophomore and not able to talk to the coaches yet,” said Crescenzo. “But I found out, it was such a great feeling, and I reaffirmed to me that all the hard work that I’ve been putting in over the years is starting to pay off and I’m starting to get recognized.”

“Honestly, up until getting my first (Power Four offer), I really wasn’t nervous because I just believed that eventually you’re going to get out what you put in. Knowing the work I’m putting in while no one is watching and the extra work, I really wasn’t worried and believed that they’d come and things would work out.”

That’s how Crescenzo felt immediately after receiving the offer from Pitt in January but last week was his first opportunity to see Pat Narduzzi’s program up close and personal.

“I went in early in the morning and sat in on team meetings and saw how they run things,” said Crescenzo. “I went to their practice as they were getting ready to play in their Spring Game. Overall, it was a cool experience.”

“I’d say the highlight of the visit was actually being able to be in the meeting and to see and hear how things are done there. I saw how competitive the players were but also the close bond that they have with each other.”

The other important aspect of the visit was having a chance to talk with Coach Laster and to get his thoughts on what Pitt really thought of him.

“He was involved in practice but when he had the opportunities to, I talked to him about how things were going, recruiting and what Pitt’s plans are for the future.”

“We talked about the offer, and I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t just thrown out there and I wanted to make sure and ask him if it was real and a committable offer. He told me that it was and that the more we stay in contact the closer they’ll become. Also, the more work that I put in, the more film I put up, it’s only going to go up from there.”

Crescenzo described himself to me as a very versatile player, someone that can play in the slot or outside and that his speed was a “real threat”, said that he’s a “great route-runner and you won’t see me drop a ball.”
