With Pitt football off for the field for the next three months, attention turns back to recruiting the Class of 2026.

Official visits are approaching in less than two months and recruits are starting to indicate more and more which schools they are interested in.

Pitt happens to be one of those schools that is standing out for Sandy Creek High School (Georgia) three-star edge Evan Harvey as he included the Panthers as a final school in his recruitment, along with Miami, Louisville, Mississippi State, Memphis and USF.

The highly-offered Harvey cut out the likes of Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee, Kentucky, Duke, UCF, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Oregon State, Kansas, Wisconsin, Maryland, Indiana and others from his recruitment.

Harvey has built up his offer sheet since his sophomore season, but the Panthers only offered the 6-3, 230-pound edge rusher a few months ago in late January. Still, he has felt a strong connection with the program.

“I choose Pitt because I feel like I would fit very well in their defense scheme and also because of the relationships with the coaches,” Harvey told Pittsburgh Sports Now about listing Pitt as a top school.

Cornerbacks coach Archie Collins and defensive line coach Tim Daoust have spearheaded the recruitment of Harvey.

“Coach Collins and Coach Daoust is who I talk to the most. They both have told me lots of great things not only in terms of football but also about the academics and just about campus in general,” Harvey said.

Harvey received an in-depth experience of the program when he was in town on March 27.

“I loved the visit. I went on a tour of the campus and the facility. Everything was real cool and it was also cool seeing that Pitt shares a facility with the Steelers and that they are the only college team who shares a facility with an NFL team,” he said.

Harvey is looking to set up an official visit with Pitt, but is still working on the dates. He visited Miami and USF also this spring. A deadline for a decision remains open, but Harvey is eyeing the summer.

247Sports views Harvey as a high three-star and ranks 45th among all edge rushers and 56th in Georgia.
