A little over two years ago, Pitt was in a heated pursuit of a coveted five-star wide receiver, and the Panthers were a top school when it came down to the final decision.

However, it was Florida State that won the sweepstakes for the top-30 recruit in the 2023 class. Now, Pitt is back and actively targeting the prospect in the transfer portal.

Hykeem Williams — a former five-star wide receiver from Stranahan High School in Florida — entered the transfer portal Thursday with two years of eligibility remaining and will take a visit to Pitt on Monday, a source tells Pittsburgh Sports Now.

It was first reported that Williams would take a Pitt visit by Zach Blostein of Noles247. According to the report, Williams will also visit Colorado and Syracuse this week.

Williams was once heavily considering Pitt and was pursued by wide receivers coach Tiquan Underwood. Williams visited a handful of times during his recruitment process, including an official visit and a gameday experience against Tennessee.

“They just told me that Pitt needs me and that I would be a major factor on their team and that I would fit right in,” Williams told PSN back in 2022. “They let me know that they really want me to be a part of the Pitt family.”

While Williams joined Florida State as one of the top receivers in his respective class, the 6-2, 215-pounder had limited production in two seasons with the Seminoles.

As a true freshman, Williams played in eight games as he hauled in five passes for 80 yards and one touchdown — a 44-yarder against Syracuse. This past fall during his sophomore campaign, Williams caught 16 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown against Charleston Southern.

Rivals and 247Sports viewed Williams as a five-star prospect out of high school with the latter ranking him as the No. 4 receiver in the class. He held offers from nearly 40 Division I programs, including Pitt, Florida State, Colorado, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M and others.

A fresh pursuit of Williams comes as Pitt lost two wide receivers to the transfer portal in Andy Jean and Cameron Monteiro, while there is still a possibility of another top receiver in the room hitting the portal. As of now, Pitt’s receiver room consists of Kenny Johnson, Raphael Williams, Censere Lee, Cataurus Hicks, Tyreek Robinson, Zion Fowler-El, Deuce Spann, Tony Kinsler, Bryce Yates and Cam Sapp.

Of note, Spann was teammates with Williams for the past two seasons at Florida State.
