Pitt BB Recruiting
Former Top Pitt Target Back in Transfer Portal

One of Pitt’s top targets last year in the transfer portal is back on the market.
Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, a big man out of NC State, entered the portal once again on Monday.
Last spring, he transferred from Louisville to NC State. However, before choosing the Wolfpack, Huntley-Hatfield narrowed his list down to four schools: Louisville, NC State, UConn, and Pitt. At 6-foot-10, 240 pounds, Huntley-Hatfield plays the five. Pitt has already landed Dishon Jackson at the five spot and still has Cam Corhen, who played the five for the team last year.
Huntley-Hatfield originally enrolled at Tennessee as a five-star recruit out of Scotland Campus Prep (Pa.) in the class of 2022 (rated as a consensus top-five recruit in the nation). He spent just one season as a Volunteer.
After a sophomore season at Louisville in which he averaged 6.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, shooting 47.2% from the field, he broke out as a junior in the 2023-24 season. In 32 games, all starts, he averaged 12.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, shooting 56.7% from the field. This year for NC State, he appeared in 26 games, averaging 19.7 minutes per game and 7.2 points per game. He shot 50% from the field as a senior for the Wolfpack and 33% from three-point range.
Huntley-Hatfield played just 12 minutes against Pitt in the March matchup, going one for one from the field and scoring three points. He knocked in one of his two free-throw attempts. Huntley-Hatfield had 12 games with at least ten points this season playing under Kevin Keatts, who has since been fired and replaced by former LSU and McNeese State head coach Will Wade.
