WPIAL 2027 Recruits Receive New National Rankings on 247

Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday, 247Sports released their first full Top247 rankings in the Class of 2027 and it featured plenty of WPIAL prospects.
Seven local recruits graced the new edition of the rankings with some climbing to new spots and even earning four-star status. At the same time, it also revealed new Pennsylvania rankings for the 2027 class.
Here’s where the WPIAL prospects stacked up in the latest Top247 rankings:
Kemon Spell — No. 14
The consensus four-star recruit and Penn State commit continues to be one of the top players in the country and is listed as the No. 1 prospect in the state. At 5-9, 185 pounds, the McKeesport High School product also checks in as the top running back in the class.
Spell committed to Penn State prior to his sophomore campaign, but that didn’t stop other schools from pursuing him such as Notre Dame and Tennessee. Recently, Spell announced that he was officially shutting down his recruitment and locking in with the Nittany Lions.
Gabriel Jenkins — No. 61
Out of Imani Christian Academy, Jenkins was one of the biggest risers in the rankings as he jumped from No. 149 to No. 61. He is rated as a four-star, the No. 3 player in the state and the 10th-best cornerback in the class.
Jenkins is one of the top players available in the WPIAL and boasts offers from Penn State, Michigan State, Pitt, Kentucky, Maryland, West Virginia, SMU, Syracuse, Nebraska, UCF, UNLV, Temple, Akron, Toledo, James Madison, Marshall, Miami (OH), UNLV and Sacramento State.
Khalil Taylor — No. 68
Taylor is one of the most talented athletes to come out of the WPIAL over the next few years as the Seton LaSalle product comes in as the No. 10 wide receiver in the class and the fourth-best player in the state.
The 5-11, 180-pounder followed in the footsteps of Spell and committed early to Penn State at the end of March. He selected the Nittany Lions over offers from Pitt, Wisconsin, West Virginia, UNLV, Temple, Syracuse, Rutgers, Nebraska, Michigan State, Maryland, Kentucky, Connecticut and Akron.
Javien Robinson — No. 102
Also out of McKeesport High School, Robinson has quickly risen the recruiting rankings across multiple sites. Now, 247Sports lists him as a four-star prospect, the No. 15 wide receiver and fifth-ranked recruit in the state.
Robinson — a 6-1, 171-pound talent — owns offers from Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, Akron, Sacramento State and Duquesne.
Carter Bonner — No. 119
Out of anyone on the list when it comes to the WPIAL, Bonner made the largest overall jump from No. 309 to No. 119 and earned four-star status. The Penn Hills athlete became the No. 6 player at the position and No. 7 player in the state.
At a lengthyt 6-2, 190 pounds, teams are looking at Bonner for both wide receiver and cornerback. He holds offers from Penn State, Michigan State, West Virginia, Pitt, Kentucky, Rutgers, Maryland, Temple, UConn, Troy, Akron, Miami (OH), UNLV and Sacramento State.
Jimmy Kalis — No. 181
It’s seemingly every other day that Kalis is locking in another big-time offer as his sheet oozes with elite schools including Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, Florida, Oregon and many others.
The Central Catholic product slots in as the 19th offensive tackle in the class and the ninth-best prospect in the state.
Armand Hill — No. 206
Another early WPIAL commit in the 2027 class, Hill made a verbal pledge to West Virginia following a visit to Rich Rodriguez’s program in early March. He selected the Mountaineers over Pitt, Penn State, Michigan, Maryland, Syracuse, Toledo, Akron and UNLV.
In the updated 247 rankings, Hill chimes in as the No. 14 running back and 10th-best prospect in the state.
