Brownell’s deal will last through 2031 and will raise his salary to $4 million next season. By 2029-30, he will be making $5 million per year, according to the report.
Brownell came to Clemson for the 2010-11 season after leading successful teams at UNC Wilmington and Wright State. In his 15 seasons with the Tigers, Brownell has earned seven winning seasons. This past year, he led the Tigers to their best record of his entire tenure, going 27-7 overall. He has made five NCAA Tournaments as head coach at Clemson.
Overall, Brownell owns a 292-196 record as head coach at Clemson (.598). He is the longest tenured ACC men’s basketball head coach, after the recent retiring of Leonard Hamilton at Florida State.
“I remain honored and grateful to have led this program for 15 years and for the opportunity to continue to coach and develop young people in both basketball and life at Clemson,” Brownell said in a press release from the University. “I’m appreciative of the support from Graham Neff, President Jim Clements and our administration to continue to build upon our successes in basketball – on and off the court. I’m proud of the continuity of my staff and the critical role they play in winning, player development and recruiting.”
