According to a report by Jake Lieberman, the Duquesne Dukes' staff has reached out to Romad Dean out of Fordham.

The Duquesne basketball staff is attacking the transfer portal this spring, looking to bolster the roster in year two of the Dru Joyce III era.

The Dukes kept a solid returning core together for the Dukes — led by Jake DiMichele, David Dixon, Cam Crawford, and others — but now, are looking to add on to the team’s depth.

According to a report by Jake Lieberman, the Dukes’ staff has reached out to Romad Dean out of Fordham.

Dean has also heard from Portland, Iona, Hofstra, Binghamton, Oregon State, Fresno State, Loyola Marymount, Florida International, and Colorado, according to Lieberman. Lieberman also reported that he will visit Colorado.

Dean is a 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward out of the Bahamas. The junior spent three seasons at Fordham, most recently averaging 6.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting 46% from the field. Dean also knocked down a career-best 34% of his three-point attempts this past season, making 1.2 threes per game. He started 32 out of 33 games played this past season for the Rams, setting a career high in that statistic as well.

The Dukes have landed commitments from transfers Jimmie Williams (South Florida) and John Hugley (Xavier) so far.

Williams, a 6-foot-5 wing, was just a sophomore this past season. He spent one year at USF. Williams played in 30 games, starting two and averaging 18.3 minutes of action per game. He recently visited Duquesne and made the news of his commitment official with an Instagram post.

A Solon, Ohio native, Williams averaged 7.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He shot 46% from the field and 40% from three-point range.

The Dukes have also landed the Xavier transfer Hugley, who previously played for Pitt. Back in 2020, Hugley signed with Jeff Capel and the Pitt Panthers as a four-star center out of Cleveland, Ohio.

Things started out well for Hugley as he averaged 14.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.4 points during his redshirt freshman season.
