Former Pitt WR Cameron Monteiro Signs w/New School

After spending the last few weeks in the transfer portal, former Pitt wide receiver Cameron Monteiro has decided on a new home.
Saturday morning, Monteiro announced his intentions to join Joe Morehead and the Akron Zips. After spending just one season at Pitt, Monteiro will have four seasons of athletic eligibility remaining.
This becomes the second time in the last few years that Akron has signed a former Pitt wide receiver after bringing Shocky Jacques-Louis in 2022.
Monteiro was in his second year with the Panthers but was inactive for the spring game after participating in a majority of the spring practices.

The Brockton, Mass. native appeared in just two games against Youngstown State and Toledo in the bowl game with no recorded stats, thus preserving a redshirt. He enrolled early in January of 2024.
Out of Brockton High School, Monteiro was the top receiver in the state during the 2024 cycle, according to ESPN and 247Sports. 247 listed him as a three-star prospect and the 83rd receiver in the class. As a senior, he compiled nearly 800 all-purpose yards. His junior season, he rushed for more than 1,000 yards, averaging 10.3 yards on 103 carries.
When signing with Pitt, Monteiro was a 3-star recruit and the top player in the state of Massachusetts.
