Pitt Safety Donovan McMillon Signs as Priority Free Agent with Cleveland Browns

Pitt football has made it a tradition to send safeties to the NFL and Donovan McMillon is just the latest example of that.
Mere moments after the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft, McMillon received a call to join the Cleveland Browns as a priority free agent.

McMillon posted a 4.47 unofficial time at Pitt’s pro day, with some scouts clocking him at an even better time. Standing as one of the bigger safeties in the class at 6-foot-1 5/8, 203 pounds, McMillon wanted to showcase that he could still move at an elite pace.
“That’s the one thing that these scouts and team have been wondering how fast I’m going to be? I think I proved it,” McMillon said. “Being one of the bigger safeties in the draft this year being able to be fast as well. This league is just about speed. At the end of the day, you have to go cover guys like Tyreek Hill and guys who are literally cheetahs on the field. Me being able to go showcase my speed was really important to me and I hit my goal and hopefully that changed some thoughts about me.”
He also added 21 reps on the bench press, a 35-inch vertical jump, 10-foot-5 broad jump, 6.94-second three-cone drill and 4.13 shuttle.
The McMurray, Pa. native is coming off a senior season in which he earned second-team All-ACC honors, leading the Panthers with 115 tackles (55 solo), a tackle for loss, an interception, eight pass breakups and a forced fumble. His back-to-back 100 tackle seasons at Pitt were the first since linebacker Scott McKillop in 2007-08.
McMillon, a former four-star recruit, transferred to Pitt after spending the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Florida.
