It’s another swing and miss for Pitt in its attempt to land Hykeem Williams.

Pitt was a top school three years ago for the five-star high school product before losing out on the sweepstakes to Florida State, and recently, the Panthers once again threw their hat in the ring to land Williams when he entered the spring transfer portal.

Williams — a 6-2, 215-pound talent with two years of eligibility remaining — has committed to Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, per Hayes Fawcett of On3.

The Stranahan High School (Florida) product visited Pitt last Monday and the Panthers felt they had a chance to land the talented wide out. He also visited Syracuse, but in the end, Colorado was the most appealing option for Williams.

Coming out of high school, Williams heavily considered Pitt and was pursued by then wide receivers coach Tiquan Underwood. Williams visited a handful of times during his recruitment process, including an official visit and a gameday experience against Tennessee.

While Williams joined Florida State as one of the top receivers in his respective class, he had limited production in two seasons with the Seminoles.

As a true freshman, Williams played in eight games as he hauled in five passes for 80 yards and one touchdown — a 44-yarder against Syracuse. This past fall during his sophomore campaign, Williams caught 16 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown against Charleston Southern.

Rivals and 247Sports viewed Williams as a five-star prospect out of high school with the latter ranking him as the No. 4 receiver in the class. He held offers from nearly 40 Division I programs, including Pitt, Florida State, Colorado, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M and others.

It would have been a welcome addition to the Pitt wide receiver room, but the Pitt staff and quarterback Eli Holstein belives this is still a deep receiver room entering 2025.

Pitt lost two wide receivers to the transfer portal in Andy Jean and Cameron Monteiro. The receiver room currently consists of Kenny Johnson, Raphael Williams, Censere Lee, Cataurus Hicks, Tyreek Robinson, Zion Fowler-El, Deuce Spann, Tony Kinsler, Bryce Yates and Cam Sapp.
