With spring practices completed and the transfer portal closed, the Pitt Panthers focus now is improving with their 2025 and future roster.

On Friday night, the Pitt staff looked to improve their secondary by extending an offer to transfer defensive back Chase Arrington.

Arrington attended and graduated from North Catholic High School in 2022 and then signed with Eastern Michigan.

This is an interesting offer as Pitt just received a commitment from former North Carolina cornerback Zion Ferguson. Archie Collins unit also returns cornerbacks Rashad Battle, Tamon Lynum, Shadarian Harrison and will add talented freshman Shawn Lee Jr.

“My decision to enter the portal was extremely hard,” Arrington told PSN. “It took weeks of reflection with family, mentors, and with God. I’ve developed a really strong relationship with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ and he definitely showed me that it was time for me to take my talents elsewhere. At the end of the day my heart was still in Ypsilanti, but my brain and spirit was letting me know it was time.”

Arrington entered the transfer portal on April and two weeks later, he received his first Power Four offer and it was from his hometown team.

“Oh man for Pitt to offer was a dream come true,” said Arrington. “I grew up training in that facility week in and week out with Dee Brown (210ths) and always dreamt about being a Pitt football player. For this to come full circle years down the road is truly a blessing. I don’t think it has quite set in yet, I am still in shock.”

“Coach Caltury offered me. Great guy, he has been very consistent and honest with me. Very respectable, especially with recruiting out the portal many coaches sugar coat things.”

“I believe my strengths are my speed, physicality, versatility, and relentless nature,” said Arrington.  “Whatever program God has written out for me to play for is getting an undeniable force who just keeps going and going and going… unwavering. I won’t be outworked, I play bigger than my frame, I’m coming down in run support, I’m covering guys across the field whether in the slot or the outside.”

“Most importantly, that program is getting an even better young man in the classroom and in the community. It’s bigger than football for me, I understand the platform I have with being a college football player and I know how to use it to create a positive impact on others. I may be the only Bible some people may read! Ever!”

Arrington tells PSN that as of now, he doesn’t have any visits scheduled. As far as a timeline for a decision, while nothing is set in stone, he’d expect to make it in the next few weeks.
