Clairton’s Brandon Murphy Rakes in Penn State Offer, Four More After Showcase

Day 1 of the WPIAL College Showcase was a success as multiple high school football players in the area landed fresh Division I offers, including Clairton freshman Brandon Murphy.
Clairton was one of the first program’s to workout in front of college coaches and the Bears are no strangers to producing blue-chip prospects with safety Lamont Wade and wide receiver Tyler Boyd, along with others over the years. Now, another top-end talent is in the making.
Murphy is one of the rising Class of 2028 prospects and his performance on Monday landed him a handful of Division I offers, including a pair from Big 10 programs.
Penn State and Wisconsin extended offers, along with Western Michigan, Miami (OH) and Sacramento State. Those schools join a list that includes Kentucky, Pitt, Syracuse, USF, Temple and Akron.
Word on the street was Murphy from Clairton was a rock-star today during his workout.

Multiple coaches were in attendance to watch Murphy workout, including Pitt safeties coach and area recruiter Cory Sanders, Penn State cornerbacks coach and area recruiter Terry Smith, staffers from Wisconsin, Western Michigan and others.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder excelled for Clairton in his freshman season with 102 total tackles, 23 tackles for loss, nine sacks, two passes defended and a fumble recovery. He added 185 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
The strong first-year campaign led to Freshman All-American honors from MaxPreps as a linebacker for Brandon Murphy.
Clairton put together a 13-1 season and reached the Class 1A WPIAL championship at Acrisure Stadium before falling to Fort Cherry, 21-20.
