ACC Programs Headline Week 1 College Football Slate

ACC to feature seven teams in during the opening weekend of the 2025 season on ESPN College Football and ABC.

The 2025 college football season is 15 Saturday’s away and to kick off the year, several big-time games line the opening weekend.

Times were released this week for Week 1 games on ESPN and ABC and with seven ACC teams on the schedule.

Friday night sees a Georgia Tech program that looks to take a leap this season travel to Boulder, Colo. to face Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

The Saturday slate is dotted with three intriguing ACC-SEC crossovers all televised on ABC. Syracuse will battle Tennessee in Atlanta, Ga. at noon. On3 has the Volunteers, a playoff team last season, at No. 21 in its post-spring Top 25.

Also in Atlanta, Florida State will look to start a rebound season against the Alabama Crimson Tide at 3:30. Alabama is an the early seventh-ranked team in the country.

To cap off Saturday night, LSU will travel to another Death Valley to take on Clemson at 7:30 p.m. This has the potential to be a top-15 matchup with Clemson ranked as the No. 3 team coming out of spring and LSU the 15th-ranked team.

On Sunday, Virginia Tech will meet with No. 12 South Carolina in Atlanta at 3 p.m. on ESPN.  Then, Miami will host the national champion runner-ups in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 7:30 p.m. on ABC. Notre Dame is ranked No. 2 following spring with Miami at No. 20.

To conclude the action-packed weekend, Big 12 TCU travels to North Carolina for a 8 p.m. kickoff on ESPN.

Pitt football will open its 2025 season by taking the City Game against the Duquesne Dukes to Acrisure Stadium. The start time for that contest has yet to be announced.
