On Tuesday, Pitt had a special visitor in the basketball facility.

Former Panther Blake Hinson returned to Pitt to spend some time with the coaches and work out in the Panthers’ practice gym, according to a social media post from the team account.

Hinson was working out with former Panther player and current Pitt assistant coach Gilbert Brown in the video.

Hinson — a forward from Deltona, Fla. — capped off his two-year Pitt career with a dominant showing as a senior. He averaged 18.8 points per on 45/42/67 shooting splits and added 4.6 rebounds per game. He hit the 20-point mark 14 times and hit 41 points against Louisville.

He earned first-team All-ACC honors as a senior, setting a single-season program record with 110 3-pointers and a single-game program record with nine 3-pointers in a game (against West Virginia). In two seasons at Pitt, Blake Hinson averaged 16.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and one assist per game on 44/40/67 shooting splits — showing a knack for hitting deep or contested 3-point attempts.

He also played for Ole Miss and Iowa State during his collegiate career. Hinson signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Warriors in September 2024 after being waived by the Lakers, and it allowed him to participate in the preseason and play for the G-League squad if he didn’t make the NBA roster. He spent the entire season with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA G League.

Hinson played in 34 games in the first season of his professional career, starting 21. In 29.4 minutes per game, he scored an average of 20.1 points per contest.

Hinson also averaged 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in his first professional season. A career sharp-shooter from three-point range, Hinson shot 38% from three this year in the G League, making 3.7 of his 9.6 attempts per game, on average.
