With official visits starting in the month of June, many high school football recruits will start to make their college decisions.

But even though recruits make commitments, nothing will become official until National Signing Day in December.

That being said, some of the top WPIAL recruits in the Class of 2026 have already ended their recruitments by making early commitments. Some of those players include Peters Township 3-star TE/DE Lucas Shanafelt (Stanford), Pine-Richland 3-star DB Lawerence Timmons (Indiana), Aliquippa 3-star DE Daiveon Taylor (Kent State), Fort Cherry 4-star safety Matt Sieg (Penn State) and Imani Christian 4-star DB David Davis (Penn State).

This will be a fairly big year for the WPIAL in terms of Power Four recruits with several other talented players still weighing their options.

With the 2025 calendar year nearly halfway over, here’s an update on the top WPIAL players that are still uncommitted.

These are Pittsburgh Sports Now’s Top Five 2026 WPIAL uncommitted players.

5. Adam Gehm: 3-star tight end from Seneca Valley High School. Gehm (6’6″, 225-pounds) has quietly been adding a number of impressive Power Four offers and has scheduled a couple of official visits. At this stage of his recruitment, Gehm holds offers from Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, Northwestern, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Wisconsin and others. Gehm has official visits scheduled to Vanderbilt and Louisville.

4. Anthony Charles: 3-star defensive end from South Fayette High School. Charles is another player that has been taking in offers from quality programs. Right now, Charles (6’5″, 200) holds Power Four offers from Michigan, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State and West Virginia. Charles has scheduled official visits to Minnesota (May 30-June 1), Cincinnati (June 6-8), Wisconsin (June 13-15), Penn State (June 20-22) and Michigan.

3. Ashton Blatt: 3-star defensive end from Central Catholic High School. Blatt’s recruitment has been anything but quiet as he’s steadily been taking in offers since the end of his junior season. Blatt (6’4″, 230-pounds) is a quality football player that will be able to get after the quarterback in college. The question is where will he take his talents to? Pat Narduzzi and Pitt have been pursuing him steadily but so have a number of other programs. Blatt’s list of Power Four offers include Duke, Penn State, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Boston College, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Minnesota, Syracuse, UCLA, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Currently, Blatt has official visits scheduled to Duke, Penn State, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

2. Colsen Gatten: 3-star inside linebacker from Central Catholic High School. Like his teammate, Blatt, Gatten has a boatload of quality offers such as Pitt, Arizona, Boston College, California, Cincinnati, Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, SMU, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Pitt’s Ryan Manalac made an in-home visit to see him last week as he’d love to have him in the middle running Pitt’s defense. Gatten will take an official visit to Pitt in June.

  1. Reston Lehman: 4-star defensive end from Peters Township High School. Lehman (6’4″, 230-pounds) is a pro-type defensive end that has many quality programs pursuing him. Since the end of last season, Lehman and Blatt have probably seen their recruitment take off just as much as any player. Lehman holds offers from Pitt, Boston College, Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and West Virginia. As of now, Lehman has scheduled two official visits: Pitt and Rutgers.
