Key Duquesne Player Officially Returning

One key Duquesne basketball player will officially return to the Dukes for the 2025-26 season, the program announced this week.

Duquesne posted that Dukes’ big man David Dixon will be back on the bluff for the 2025-26 season.

Dixon, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound forward, spent his junior season coming off the bench for the Dukes for the most part. He appeared in 32 games, starting ten. Dixon played just 18.3 minutes per game for the Dukes, but made a massive impact. He averaged 5.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest, setting a career-high in rebounds per game but taking a step back in the scoring department.

Dixon staying with the Dukes is big news, as Duquesne’s Dru Joyce III and his staff have now finalized a deep front court. This offseason, Duquesne brought in former Xavier center John Hugley, as well as Stef Van Bussel out of College of Charleston.

However, the Dukes aren’t looking for the Xavier version of Hugley. They are looking for the Pitt, or even the Oklahoma version of Hugley, who was at one point a dominant, physical force inside that could score with the best of them at the high-major level. Hugley has averaged eight points per game in three separate seasons at the high-major level so far in his collegiate career, and should be a massive addition in the A10.

Duquesne also returns forwards Alex Williams and Jakub Necas. Eli Wilborn (JMU) transferred out, as did Chabi Barre (Akron), while Jahsean Corbett is out of eligibility.
