Pitt lands three-star point guard Macari Moore, a former Iowa State signee.

Jeff Capel and the Pitt men’s basketball program have landed another commitment with ties to the Iowa State basketball program.

Thursday evening, Macari Moore — a 6-foot-3 point guard from Ann Arbor Huron High School in Michigan — announced his commitment to the Panthers via X.

Moore, a three-star prospect, was an Iowa State basketball signee and de-committed from the Cyclones back on March 14 after holding a verbal pledge with the program for a year.

“Macari is a tenacious competitor who showed winning traits throughout his high school and AAU career,” Jeff Capel said in a press release. “He plays with an attacking style on both ends of the floor and has built a strong reputation around his work ethic. He is at his best as a downhill driver getting in the lane to make plays for himself or teammates and has also shown the ability knock down shots from the perimeter. He will fit in well with the backcourt we are building at Pitt, and we are excited to see how he continues to develop in our program.”

He joins Iowa State transfers Dishon Jackson, a fifth-year center, and sophomore guard Nojus Indrusaitis.

Along with Iowa State, Moore had offers from Louisville, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Toledo. 247Sports ranks Moore as the No. 18 point guard in the cycle and second-best prospect out of Michigan.

As a senior at Ann Arbor Huron, Moore averaged 19.5 points per game to go along with 6.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals. He also shot 47% from 3-point range and 83% from the free-throw line as he was named a 2025 Michigan Mr. Basketball finalist. He also earned Michigan Sports Writers Division I First Team All-State honors.

Across four years, Moore led Huron to three conference championships and scored over 1,500 points to set a school record thar was previously held by Syracuse standout and 1983 NBA Draft selection Erich Santifer.

Moore becomes the fourth prep prospect in the 2025 class to go along with signees Omari Witherspoon, a four-star guard out of St. John’s College Prep in Washington D.C., Kieran Mullen, a 7-foot center out of St. Thomas Moore School in Connecticut, and Australian wing Henry Cody Lau.

Pitt has also signed Oregon State guard transfer Damarco Minor andSouth Alabama transfer Barry Dunning  Jr.
