Pitt Losing Football Staff Member to NFL

The Pitt football program is losing a talented member of their football staff to the NFL.
After three seasons with the Pitt Panthers, Alex Kline is taking his talents to the NFL and the Tennessee Titans.
The Western Pennsylvania native initially joined Pitt as assistant director of player personnel before he was promoted last year to director of college scouting.
His exact role and title have yet to be announced but Kline will be a member of their scouting department.
During his time with Pitt, Kline had a number of duties including overseeing the college transfer portal. He also was in charge of the offensive high school recruiting board management. On the field, Kline spent time with and worked with Pitt wide receivers particularly Konata Mumpfield, Bub Means and Jared Wayne. Also, during gameday, Kline was in the box as the eyes for the offensive coordinator over the last 3 years.
Kline had two stays with Pitt having started back in 2018 with the ACC Coastal Division winning team before moving to Memphis as director of player personnel and with Akron as wide receivers coach in 2021.
Earlier this offseason, Pitt was able to bring back a talented person to their program in Mark Diethorn.
Diethorn was brought back with the title of assistant athletic director of football recruiting strategy.
Mark Diethorn enters the first year of his second tour with Pitt football. He returned to the Panthers in April 2025 as assistant athletic director of football recruiting strategy.
In this role, Diethorn oversight of the Pitt football creative team, social media initiatives. Also, Diethorn will play a big role in recruiting communications, high school relations and special projects in personnel evaluations.
