Ohio OT Pete Eglitis To Make Visit to Pitt

A second offensive lineman from Ohio has announced his plans to take an official visit to Pitt.
24 hours after 3-star offensive lineman Nathan Zappitelli scheduled his visit (June 19-21), fellow 3-star lineman Pete Eglitis did the same thing.
Eglitis is a 3-star recruit from Watterson High School in Columbus, Ohio and says that he’ll be in Pittsburgh from June 19-21st.

Eglitis (6’7″, 285-pounds) is being recruited to Pitt by Ryan Manalac and head coach Pat Narduzzi. Along with Pitt, Eglitis, holds offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, James Madison, Kent State, Kentucky, Liberty, Louisville, Marshall, Miami Ohio, Missouri, Ohio U., Toledo, Wake Forest and Western Michigan.
Along with Pitt, Eglitis has an official visit scheduled to Iowa State for the first weekend in June.
Eglitis made his first visit to Pitt in March, which is when he received his offer from Manalac. PSN talked with him afterwards and Eglitis recapped his day and gave some of his highlights.
“I’d definitely say that Pitt’s campus really stood out to my family and me,” said Eglitis. “How old it was and how beautiful The Cathedral of Learning is. As well as the competitiveness of Pitt’s practice. It was the first day of practice in pads and there was a lot of trash talking going on, which I really love. Those two things really stood out to me.”
“The offer was actually pretty surprising,” Eglitis told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Coach Manalac came to my school during the winter and talked to a few of us at Watterson and said that he wanted to get us up to Pitt for the spring practice. I came on Saturday, talked to the o-line coaches and actually a lot of people at Pitt. Soon as I got there, I just got the feeling that Pitt really liked me and I got a lot of attention, which was really nice.”
Eglitis says that Coach Manalac was the one that offered him and after that occurred, he received a tour of campus and then he and his family had sit-down conversations with offensive line coach Jeremy Darveau and head coach Pat Narduzzi.
“When we had our meeting, coach Darveau was telling me he liked my frame. For being 6-foot-7, 288-pounds, he thought I moved really good. They liked my athletic ability, and he said that he’s trying to get to more outside zone. So, my athletic ability is what really stood out to the Pitt coaches.”
